ScoBo Tournament Question Database
You can spend hundreds of dollars to obtain questions for a tournament... or you can put your limited funds toward attending more tournaments, buying study materials, or virtually anything else. How? Write the questions yourselves!
If you are the coach of a Scholar Bowl team, you want your players to know as much as they can. By writing the questions yourselves, not only do you receive the financial benefit, but your players will learn new information from the research required to write quality questions.
But it's a lot of hard work to get so many questions written, not to mention making sure that there aren't any duplicates, and then getting the huge bank of questions organized.
ScoBo Tournament Question Database is designed to manage all of this. With the Internet-based ScoBo Tournament Question Database 2.6, you can:
- Manage multiple tournaments
- Create unlimited user accounts so that multiple players can submit questions
- Manage your tournament from any computer with an Internet connection.
- Build-Your-Own Tournament feature allows for a wide variety of question formats (approximately 35 trillion). You can manage a tournament with up to six periods, and choose what kind of questions are in each quarter:
- 1-50 Tossup Questions
- 1-50 Tossup with attached 1-6 part bonuses
- 1-3 10-part Lightning Rounds (with 1 or 2 backup parts)
- 1-50 1-6 part individual bonuses
- 10-20 part Worksheet Round
- 4 Give-and-Take
- 1-25 separated, alternating tossups and bonuses (allowing for random arrangement of tossups and associated bonuses for packets that desire or require bonuses to be unrelated to their respective tossups)
- If a question format you need is not listed, let me know and I'll work with you to include it in the program!
- Category-Subcategory question classification
- Assignment system - users will know exactly what they need to write and can now indicate that a certain question is intended to fulfill one of their assignments to reduce confusion.
- Quota Management - make sure you get the right number of questions in each category
- NEW! - MathCode makes formatting fractions, radicals, exponents, and chemical formulas easy.
- Custom Formatting - use HTML to format rounds any way you like or use our default format.
- Difficulty tracking - a perceived difficulty is given to each question. This difficulty is used to calculate a weighted difficulty score for each round to ensure that your packets are at an appropriate difficulty level. A question-by-question difficulty graph allows you to visually see if question difficulty is varying wildly from question to question (e.g. such as one question is a level 6 and the next is a level 1).
- Global Editor user level - allows a standard user to edit questions without giving him/her all other administrative privileges.
- Event Verification Editors - allows up to three users to provide their input on each question before verification by an administrator. This reduces the chance of inaccurate questions, wrong answers, and extreme levels of question difficulty or ease.
- Print rounds directly from the browser or cut and paste to a word processing application.
- Event Archiving - after an event has passed, it can be archived so that it doesn't clutter up the active events list while retaining all of its information for later use.
- User Archiving - users who have submitted items for previous tournaments but no longer need access to the database can be archived so that their access to the database is restricted but their questions are retained.
